Remodeling Kitchen Fort Myers

Remodeling Kitchen Fort MyersHave you been thinking about remodeling the kitchen in your Fort Myers home to improve its look and functionality?

To inspire you, Sunrise Remodeling describes a few of the latest kitchen trends  and provides some tips on how you might incorporate them into your new décor.

  1. Shaker style. Maybe it’s the practicality and plainness of the classic Shaker kitchen that make this such a popular style for kitchens year after year. The beauty of the Shaker cabinet woods, traditionally maple, birch and chestnut, give a warm texture to the room and look wonderful in classic and contemporary kitchens. In addition to the cabinets, try incorporating rows of big wood-faced drawers for a clean and orderly look. Expect a higher price tag if you choose solid wood. MDF and Thermofoil are less expensive options, although they may not have the sharp Shaker edges on the stiles and rails. One bonus is that you generally won’t need additional molding.
  1. Enhance the architectural elements in the room by incorporating a contrasting wallpaper to add some character. You don’t have to go wild and paper every wall; even small highlights here and there will add some visual impact. And don’t forget about the ceilings. Wallpaper on the kitchen ceiling can be striking.
  1. Warm metals. The past few years featured plenty of chrome and stainless steel. Kitchens this year will incorporate warmer metals, like copper, bronze and gold. Neutral rooms need metallics and texture for warmth, and these metals blend well with most color schemes. Consider deep copper faucets and sinks to dress up the room. And avoid going overboard by matching all the hardware on the cabinets and drawers. Mix the metals for a more interesting environment.
  1. Don’t forget what’s above your head.  Add dimension and character to a plain room with the traditional look of a coffered ceiling, a sunken panel in the shape of a square, rectangle, or octagon. The beams and molding can give the kitchen a more formal look. If your kitchen already has a bulkhead (or soffit) ceiling, use it as a decorating opportunity. Add beadboard, crown molding, or use exotic decorative trim like zebrawood. Colored LED lighting is another way to add to the room’s beauty.
  1. Vibrant colors. If you’re not a fan of all-white, all-black or monochromatic kitchens, consider the colors of Earth and nature. Native American and Moroccan hues, such as mustard yellows, deep reds, royal blues, and dusty shades of pink, are popular again and will add some richness to the kitchen. If you would prefer not to paint the cabinets or buy colored appliances, use these hues as accent colors for a wall or two. If you ever get tired of the color, it will be easy to change.
  1. Wood finished to resemble its natural form, as opposed to ultra-smooth or high-gloss, is trending in kitchen design. People love it for its traditional, warm and homey charm. But mixing wood with natural marble, granite and other types of textured stone in the kitchen are growing in popularity. Consider Travertine, for example, for the floor because it feels so soft underfoot.

Sunrise Remodeling specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodeling, as well as cabinet refacing and custom Travertine countertops and floors.
