Travertine
Travertine is a natural stone material that is often compared to granite. Looking and acting similar to limestone, it can be a great option for a countertop in your kitchen. It’s available in many beautiful earth tone colors and has a great matte, modern finish. The natural veining and imperfections add to its appeal as a countertop, flooring and wall-covering material.
Travertine weighs less than marble and is extremely durable, but less expensive than granite and some other marble types. It needs to be filled and sealed properly when installed, and will need to be resealed every few years.
Laminates
Laminate countertops often get a bad rep. Laminates, such as Formica, have been a mainstay in countertops for the last hundred years, for good reason. They are resilient, easy to clean and a lot less expensive than many of the options available today.
